About me
I am a molecular geneticist and teaching for over 20 years, currently at Michigan State University. I center my teaching practice on creating inclusive learning environments and developing evidence-based materials in diverse areas, ranging from introductory biology to genetics, evolution, and infectious disease. My research is on scientific reasoning, course-based research experiences (CURE), and antiracist, just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive (AJEDI) teaching practices. In the past, I led the NSF/CUR Transformations Project at UNC Greensboro to scaffold CURE across the curriculum. I provide instructor training toward improved implementation of AJEDI curriculum and pedagogy in STEM courses. Please come discuss with me ideas on how we can make our courses better, more inclusively inspiring students to care, to learn, and connect their learning and experiences to their lives, careers, and all that matters in the world!
